Tie changelog

The releases of Tie for Mac and of cs, the CLI behind cs tie, newest first: what is new, what was fixed and what is still known to go wrong.

  • On a Mac, download Tie for Mac. It updates itself: it checks once a day and installs when you click Install.
  • Anywhere else, npx @corespeed/cs tie runs the newest cs.

  1. Tie for Mac 0.1.6 (build 7)Latest

    Opening Tie shows the menu

    New

    • When macOS hides Tie's icon, because the menu bar is full and the icon sits behind the notch or because the item is turned off in System Settings, a guide shows what happened and how to make room. Use Tie from here opens the full menu, and once the icon appears, the menu opens under it.

    Fixed

    • Opening Tie while it runs, from a double-click or Spotlight, opens its menu. On a Mac that is not tied yet, the first launch opens it too.
    • The Tie Driver download resumes after a dropped connection and goes through your Mac's proxy settings. When it fails, the error names the proxy it went through, or points you at your network and proxy settings.

    Known issues

    • A full-screen app hides the menu bar, so opening Tie from Spotlight there shows the guide instead of the menu. The guide closes when the menu bar comes back.
    • Of your Mac's proxy settings, only the HTTP and HTTPS proxy are used. An automatic proxy configuration (PAC) file is not read.

  2. cs 0.10.0Latest

A driver download that resumes and uses your proxy

    Fixed

    • The driver download behind browser and screen resumes after a dropped connection, and a later try picks up the part already on disk.
    • The download goes through your proxy: HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY or ALL_PROXY with NO_PROXY, otherwise the system proxy on macOS and Windows.
    • When the download fails, the error names the proxy it went through, or points you at the machine's network and proxy settings.

    Known issues

    • Of the system proxy settings, only the HTTP and HTTPS proxy are used. An automatic proxy configuration (PAC) file is not read.

  3. Tie for Mac 0.1.5 (build 6)

    Larger results from your Mac

    New

    • Screenshots are sized to 1568 px on the long edge unless the agent asks for another size. Before, a desktop screenshot was the full native capture, several MB on a large display.

    Fixed

    • Results from your Mac can now be up to 4 MiB, up from 128 KB, so window screenshots and large accessibility trees come through.

    Known issues

    • Turning on Browser or Screen could fail with "could not download Tie Driver" when the connection dropped, or when your Mac reaches the internet through a proxy. Fixed in Tie for Mac 0.1.6.
    • Opening Tie while it was already running showed nothing, and with a full menu bar its icon could hide behind the notch. Fixed in Tie for Mac 0.1.6.

  4. cs 0.9.0

    Tie on Windows, in beta

    New

    • Tie runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64), in beta: cs tie and cs untie, shell, files, your local MCP servers, browser and screen.
    • Commands run in PowerShell 7 when it is installed, otherwise in Windows PowerShell 5.1. The tool description tells agents which, so they write commands for it.
    • Windows has its own default deny list: elevation, wiping a drive root or your home folder, the disk tools, shutdown and deleting backups.
    • The device credential is stored encrypted for your Windows account (DPAPI). Where that cannot run, such as an SSH session signed in with a key, it is kept in a local file instead. tied starts when you sign in, from the Startup folder.

    Known issues

    • There is no tray app on Windows. Approval requests arrive in the dashboard, Slack or email.
    • A console window shows for a moment at each sign-in. If tied crashes, nothing restarts it until your next sign-in.
    • Browser and screen on Windows are early: attaching to Chrome or Edge, and working in desktop apps beyond the basics, were not yet verified at release.
    • At release, Tie had been tested on Windows Server 2025 (the Windows 11 kernel), not yet on a Windows 11 PC or on Windows on Arm.
    • Turning on browser or screen could fail when the driver download was cut off, or when the machine reaches the internet through a proxy. Fixed in cs 0.10.0.

  5. cs 0.8.2

    Larger results from your machine

    New

    • Screenshots are sized to 1568 px on the long edge unless the agent asks for another size. Before, a desktop screenshot was the full native capture, several MB on a large display.

    Fixed

    • Results from your machine can now be up to 4 MiB, up from 128 KB, so window screenshots and large accessibility trees come through.
    • Running cs tie again on a tied machine restarts tied when it is older than the one cs carries, so an update takes effect at once. Before, the old tied kept running until your next login.

    Known issues

    • On a Mac that also runs Tie for Mac, an older cs can leave its older tied serving the machine. Run the newest cs, or let Tie for Mac update itself.

  6. Tie for Mac 0.1.3 (build 4)

A menu like Control Center, and a much smaller app

    New

    • The menu is drawn like Control Center's: your Mac as a tile with its state, tool count and a Pause or Resume button; each provider with its tool count and switch; recent calls; then Connections…, Tie Settings… (⌘,) and Quit Tie (⌘Q).
    • Tie runs tied on the Node.js already on your Mac, so the app is about 125 MB smaller. Settings shows which Node it uses.

    Fixed

    • Settings opens in front of other windows.

    Known issues

    • Tie needs Node.js 22 or newer. Without it, the menu says so, with Get Node… and Try Again.

  7. Tie for Mac 0.1.2 (build 3)

    Tie updates itself

    New

    • From this version on, Tie for Mac updates itself. It checks once a day, shows a dialog when a new version is out, and installs when you click Install, never on its own.

    Known issues

  8. cs 0.8.1

One permission prompt at a time

    New

    • On macOS, browser and screen now run on Tie Driver: macOS permission prompts and System Settings show Tie Driver. If you allowed browser and screen before, macOS asks you once more.
    • When a permission is missing, cs tie status names it and the System Settings pane where you allow it.

    Fixed

    • macOS now asks for one permission at a time, Accessibility and then Screen Recording, and waits for each. Before, the second prompt never appeared and browser and screen stayed on "starting…". On macOS 26, the screen capture consent is asked up front, not in the middle of a screenshot.

    Known issues

    • Results over 128 KB from your machine failed, so window screenshots and large accessibility trees often did not come through. Fixed in cs 0.8.2.
